HARPS GAA: Over the past few weekends the U21 hurlers have continued their winning run in the championship to qualify for the final. The results are as follows: Quarter Final – November 25th: Rosenallis 0-06 vs 5-12 The Harps (Played in Rosenallis); Semi Final – November 16th: The Harps 1-13 v 0-15 Clough-Ballacolla (Played in Durrow). The Harps will face Camross, in a repeat of the U19 Final, this Saturday (December 22nd) at 1.00pm. The venue is the Laois Centre of Excellence on Fr Browne Avenue, Portlaoise. Camross overcame Abbeyleix in their semi-final with sixteen points to spare. Best of luck to the lads!

ST. STEPHEN’S DAY TOURNAMENT: The Harps GAA will again hold the Annual Wren Bhoys Tournament at the Club grounds in Durrow on December 26th from 11am. Anyone interested in hurling on one of four teams, please forward your name to Tommy Moore (086) 3338089 or Conor Dunne (087) 9700875. It is hoped that this year, funds raised will purchase a defibrillator for the Club grounds. A very worthy cause.

SMASH HITS NEW BAND – HOLLABACK AT LENNONS: The Harps GAA will hold a fundraiser night on Sunday, December 30th. The peeps who brought you Smash Hits present HOLLABACK, playin Nothin but Noughties. We’re gonna party like its no longer 1999 coz its Y2K and we’re Crazy In Love with the Noughties! We’ve dialled up Napster and downloaded all the biggest hits from Shakira, Nelly, Fedde le Grand, Destiny’s Child, Usher, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Eric Prydz, Blue and many more! HARPS GAA: Over the past few weekends the U19 hurlers have continued their winning run in the championship to qualify for the final. The results are as follows:

  • Round 1: October 13th: The Harps 0-13 v 0-09 Camross (Played in Durrow)
  • Round 2: October 27th: The Harps 5-21 v 0-05 Clough-Ballacolla (Played in Ballacolla)
  • Round 3: November 10th: The Harps 5-31 v 0-04 Portlaoise (Played in Durrow)
  • Semi-Final: November 24th: The Harps 3-18 v 1-07 Raheen Parish Gaels (Played in Portlaoise)
  • Final: November 30th: The Harps – v – Camross (To be played in Laois GAA Centre of Excellence) 7.30pm.

The Harps will face Camross, in a repeat of the first round, this Friday night in Portlaoise at 7.30pm. The venue is the Laois Centre of Excellence on Fr Browne Avenue, Portlaoise. Camross overcame Castletown-Slieve Bloom in their semi-final with six points to spare. Best of luck to the lads!

HARPS U21s: The Harps U21 Hurlers began their Championship campaign with a convincing win over Rosenallis last Saturday afternoon in the north Laois County village. The results from the first round of the Under 21 Championship are as follows:

  • Abbeyleix Gaels 2-20 vs 1-18 Castletown Slieve Bloom
  • Raheen Parish Gaels 1-17 vs 3-12 Borris in Ossory Kilcotton
  • Rosenallis 0-06 vs 5-12 The Harps

The Harps U21s will face the winners of Clough-Ballacolla and Rathdowney-Errill in the Semi-Final which is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12th with the time and venue yet to be decided. Again, best of luck is wished for to the lads.

hurling1A young Harps Gaels U21 hurling team lost out to a more experienced and stronger Abbeyleix/Ballypickas team in the recent first round clash in Rathdowney. Trailing by two points at half time, The Harps Gaels finished the wrong side of a 2-18 to 1-14 final scoreline. There was a great effort made on the day with good displays by Eoin Clancy, Liam Lawlor, Charles Dwyer and Kieran Freeman.
