HARPS GAA: Harps Minors: The Harps U17s were narrowly beaten by Clough-Ballacolla/Mountrath in the recent minor final. Playing with a very strong breeze the Harps went in at the break leading 0-06 to 0-03. Given the strength of the breeze a bigger lead was needed! In the second half the opposition eventually drew level and took the lead with ten minutes to go to finish winners 0-10 to 0-08. The club would like to thank the players and mentors and in particular all the parents for their commitment and support throughout the year. Harps Minor Panel: Lorcan Fitzpatrick (Capt), Tiarnach Doheny, Thomas Walsh, Billy McEvoy, Ben Dunphy, Ciaran Burke, Ciaran Shortall, Aaron Grady, James Duggan, Rian Edwards, Mikey Monaghan, Conor Delaney, Jim O’Connor, Jim Kirby, Daire Quinn, Cody Comerford, Bill Phelan, Mark Holland, Padraic Walsh, Cathal Murphy, Darren O’Neill, Emmett Moore, Mark Deegan, Jack Murphy, Tony Lee Donoghue, Stephen Murphy and Patrick Daly.

Harps Seniors: The Harps Senior hurlers were narrowly beaten by Portlaoise in the county final by Portlaoise with just a two point margin. Similarly to the minors beforehand, the Seniors went in at the short whistle ahead by two points following a half that saw them assisted by the stiff breeze. However, the second half proved too much against a determined Portlaoise team that now had the breeze behind them as they gradually ate in to the Harps lead to take control of the game and finish out on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-11. The club would like to thank everyone for their massive support on the day and to everyone in the Parish who put out a great display of colour. It was fantastic to see. The club would also like to thank Lennon’s Venue and Sheila Maher who provided fine food for both teams on Sunday night – it was most appreciated.

Under 19s Hurlers: Last Saturday the U19s got off to winning start in the championship beating Camross on a 0-14 to 0-10 scoreline. The next face Clough-Ballacolla in Ballacolla at 3pm on Saturday,October 27th. Please come along and support the lads.
